Create an MSI package to deploy Iperius ONE in bulk via GPO

Among the many advanced features provided by Iperius ONE, one of the most important is the ability to create an MSI package for mass and silent deployment and installation of the software on all computers within a network/domain, using Windows Group Policies (GPO).

System administrators are well aware of what we are referring to and are able to configure GPOs to install Iperius ONE via MSI on all computers within a domain through a simple configuration on the server acting as the domain controller.

The first step is, of course, to generate the MSI package.

First of all, download the agent so that it can be installed on all devices you want to manage.
Select the option to generate the MSI package in order to install it in bulk on all devices:

Once generated, download the MSI setup and run it.

The MSI package already includes the license data, so once the installation is completed, the computer will be automatically associated with the license and will appear in the dashboard.

How to perform mass installation of the MSI package:

Once you have generated and downloaded the MSI package, it can be immediately used for silent and mass deployment on all computers in the network. The Iperius MSI file does not require an additional MST file for configuration, as all essential information is already embedded in the setup thanks to the customization process.

For those who are not familiar with how to deploy an MSI package to computers in a domain, below are the steps to follow:

Using Group Policy (GPO) to install software remotely

In this simple guide, we will see how to silently deploy Iperius ONE on all computers in a domain using the MSI package and a simple Group Policy (GPO) configuration on the domain controller.

On the server acting as the domain controller, create a shared folder and place the .MSI setup file inside it:

Share the folder by granting read permissions to Everyone:

Therefore, in our case, the full path of the MSI file in the shared folder will be:

\\Server2019test\msi\IperiusOne_Setup.msi

How to create the Group Policy Object (GPO):

In Server Manager, go to “Tools” and then click on “Group Policy Management”. In the management window, right-click on the domain name and select the menu option to create a new Group Policy in the domain, as shown in the image below:

Assign a name to the Group Policy you are creating:

Right-click on the newly created entry and select “Edit”:

In the Group Policy Editor window, go to Computer Configuration and then right-click on “Software Installation”, as shown in the image, and select the menu option to add a new package:

Select the .MSI file using the network shared folder path:

Select the “Assigned” deployment method:

Click OK, then you will see the entry as shown in the following image:

Now repeat the same procedure for the “User Configuration” section, selecting the MSI package:

Select the “Assigned” deployment method:

Now right-click on the newly created entry and select “Properties”. Then go to the “Deployment” tab and select the option to install the software at user logon.

At this point, the Group Policy configuration is complete. Policies are refreshed on client machines every 90 minutes and, at the next user logon, Iperius One will be automatically installed and started in unattended mode. If you want to force a policy update, you can do so on the clients using a simple command:
